I have read this book when I was fourteen. Mom bought this in a local bookstore for only 10 pesos, and it was all worth it.
The story started when a brand new Norton wide-body jet flying from Hongkong to California experienced a sudden and violent turbulence as it makes its final descent and approach to Los Angeles (LAX) International Airport. It was such a horrifying event. The Norton jet landed successfully on to LAX's runway but the passengers were severely injured. Some were even killed during their untimely ordeal. During their crisis, passengers popped like pop corns as the plane manages to withstand the heavy G-force. Aircraft investigators were baffled by the unknown cause of the violent air turbulence. The aircraft nearly plunged into the dark realm of Pacific Ocean.
News media and other concerned members help to disseminate the news worldwide but they also contributed to the hindrance of the investigation. You can actually perceive the different kinds of competition, particularly in the media. Soon, investigators slowly uncovered viable clues on to the failed crash. They were actually stunned by it since a minuscule problem would lead into a worldwide disaster in ordinary people and to the aircraft manufacturer.
Of course, media can surmise anything. But the thing is, all of the facts presented in the media are not that accurate and true. It's a treacherous world between the media, society and the authorities. It's a conflict between the three parties. The lives of the million travelers worldwide are at stake.
This novel was quite good, for some reasons that the facts were well presented in the novel. The same thoughts keep on repeating as you go deeper in the novel. Also, the ending was quite appalling.
I first encountered Coldplay when I was in my sixth grade in Elementary. But I didn't pay attention to it, being a music bummer at that time. After a year, some of my High school friends who were so much engrossed with Coldplay's songs like Clocks, Yellow and The Scientist influenced me to dig on Coldplay. So yeah, I browsed some of their songs in the World Wide Web and I was damned by the group. Hell, Chris Martin really rocked my musical realm. In fact I still listen to their old songs!
Coldplay didn't fail to surprise and amuse me. Each of their albums (Parachutes, A Rush of Blood to the Head, X&Y, Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends) has its own uniqueness when it comes to its content and message. Chris Martin together with his band mates poses superb musical ingenuity. Listen to their albums particularly the Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends. I really love it. It makes me feel that I'm flying into the surrealistic world of Coldplay.
We've Sensed It. We've Seen The Signs. Now... It's Happening.
Alright. Watching Sci-Fi movies shakes the stress away from my sensitive system.
This movie was directed by M. Night Shyamalan. Although scifi movie enthusiasts like me, were thrilled by its trailer, I (or we, well, idk) was quite disappointed with the movie's story. Okay, an airborne natural disease/virus or whatever has been released unexpectedly in Northeast America. Then people began to act weird and as if they have forgotten that they exist. But what's grotesque in this movie is this. The neurological system and other nerve impulse of a person has been altered by this invisible attacker. The effect is catastrophic - people will find ways just to kill their own selves. Now, that's fantastic. The only problem is that the storyline itself was a bit confusing. The story can be more creative in some other ways. The script was not that astounding. But no, I'm not a film director or producer, it's just, I could somehow sense that there's an alternative way to have the movie's storyline better than the original.
Three stars for this movie, at least, thanks to Mark Walhberg's fame.
When I arrived at home from my Physics Class, I saw a new DVD case in our coffee table.
Mom bought a DVD copy of it and we watched together with my dad. HAHAHA. Awwww. But no. I thought it was super funny like Nemo. The story was light, and the ending of it was predictable. Indeed, the crew of the movie designed this movie for kids and not for everyone. I don't know. My parents laughed a bit and I just only gave a subtle grin on to the funny scenes of the movie. Don't kill me, it's just my personal opinion. HAHAHA :))
And oh! I just observed that some characters of the movie were inspired or based on the characters of Winnie the Pooh. Wala lang. Or maybe it's just a coincidence or whatnot.
The planet Earth started to revolve around the Sun for at least four and a half billion years. Life began to burgeon almost half a billion years later, as a unicellular organism. With proper amounts of heat, energy and balance of the primordial atmosphere, it caused several organisms to adapt and evolve into series of different organism. Now that’s what we call the wheel of life. Ever since these organisms walked through different timelines, we can always assume that they lived in a peaceful and an almost utopian world. But sometimes, they have to deal with series of predicaments and quandaries of life.
3 Minutes before impact is a documentary film collection of Discovery Channel, a science related television Media Company. The film depicts several possibilities of Earth’s annihilation; at least 75% of life will be totally affected by this catastrophe. Geologist and Astronomers were baffled yet amazed by the mysteries of space. Almost everyday, the Earth is visited by series of comets and asteroids, which means, they have to pass through Earth’s orbit. Statistical data shows that the probability of a comet that will hit our planet is 1:1000000000. The probability’s very low but we don’t know when exactly that disaster will occur. We can’t decipher and predict the statistical data for it just served as a warning to all of us.
Nevertheless, some known Geologists uncovered Earth’s darkest past. They’ve studied different ancient “pop-marks” of the Earth. The riddle lies behind the rocks. Even in the medieval history, particularly the Dark Age has a subtle explanation about its title. They have ventured through series of speculations and fortunately they have specified one conclusion – one gigantic impact on Earth will change the history of mankind and other species.
The Discovery Channel’s documentary film has explained different unbiased explanations about the possible effects when a deadly impact occurs on to our planet. I believed that this is just a cycle of life and mankind shall accept it. Mankind may have to undergo to the brink of extinction in the near future, but we have to give way on to the new set of life forms. “The Earth is but one country and mankind its citizens.”
I ain't a big fan of neither Sharon Cuneta nor any Filipino movies. It's just I'm not fond of watching Tagalog movies in cinemas. Let's be practical, okay? Otchenta Pesos na ang sine chong! Mahal na ang bigas! Okaaayyyy. Sometimes, I just wait for a year or two 'til ABS-CBN feature this movie on TV. But no, my mom's persuading me to watch this movie and yeah, fortunately I gave in with her plea.
So the story revolves with the main character, Sarah (played by Sharon Cuneta), who is an Elementary English Teacher who seeks greener pastures in London, United Kingdom as a caregiver together with her husband, Ted (John Estrada). The movie is, surprisingly, not a crap. After all, it's not your typical Filipino movie with lots and lots of twists and plots until your head entwines because of confusion. The storyline is simple and it showcased several Filipino traits that have been carried away as far as London, like the value of family, money and frugality.
Life of an OFW is really difficult. I know I may not feel that thing because my parents are not OFWs, but what made me touched by that movie is that, Filipinos do whatever their bodies can endure just to send money to their family at home.
I will not further elaborate the plot since I may spoil you. But hey! Watch this movie. It's a nice story, REALLY. Kudos to Sharon Cuneta, Direk Chito Roño and the rest of the movie’s cast and crew.
There are no villains in this hot zone - only the microscopic seeds of Earth's extinction. It is stealthy, sudden, and savage. We are all susceptible to it!
America had launch a mini-tv series last Monday, The Andromeda Strain. This mini-tv series was based on Michael Crichton's wonderful work. The story is much more of dealing with microorganisms, its behavior and some organic and inorganic compounds.
It all started when a spy sattelite of the Biodefense department of the states mysteriously crashed into the remote town in Southern Utah. The young couple have discovered it and brought it to the local Fire Department. When the chief opened it, in just a matter of seconds, people succumbed to their untimely death. Some of them even did the most grotesque form of suicide.
A team of scientists, led by Dr. Jeremy Stone (played by Benjamin Bratt) were sent by the government to that place and discovered there were only two survivors - an old man and a healthy baby girl.
The scientist have to deal with this baffling microorganism which later named as the Andromeda Strain. It coagulates the blood in just ten seconds and sometimes alters the behavior of an infected person. There's a little time remaining since this malevolent virus is an intelligent one. It doesn't have a DNA nor traces of amino acids or proteins. The code behind this virus is just on its structures.
During the height of this crisis, some anomalies of the Public Defense have been leaked by the rascal TV reporter, Jack Nash.
It's worth watching it. It's not a movie. It's a mini-TV series. And yeah, you can really understand their script (when the scientists discussed their own hypothesis about the virus) if you know about the world of Microbiology and Organic Chemistry. :))))
And oh, buckyballs! HAHAHAHA :))))
Just watch this if you're an avid fan of Science Fiction movies/series. Haha :))
The exceptionality of Cloverfield is on the demeanor it presents the emotion and mood of a certain character. Entirely filmed from the perspective of a (shaky and undeniably durable) handy-cam, one would not expect a very visually attractive movie. This movie proves that this assumption would be so damn wrong. Basically the story revolves around the four main characters – their struggles, fears and courage of facing the “unknown” forces that continually destroy New York City. No, I will not tell the real culprit of the story. I thought it was a lackluster and a poppycock movie. I was wrong, definitely wrong. In fact the story is consistent and the script was not that terrible. Although I can’t give a perfect rating of five stars since my head ached a bit when I watched this movie yesterday. I think it’s caused by the handy-cam’s extreme shakiness (on some scenes).
BTW, I just want to buy that video cam! It’s SOOO durable, almost infinite battery life and can withstand nuclear explosion without damaging the tape. HAHAHA!!! :)))
Much of my dismay when I learned that this great movie was rated R by the MTRCB; I thought that I have no chances to watch this movie. But ‘lo and behold, piracy came to rescue my anxiety. I’m sorry Chairman Edu but I can’t afford the original DVD copy of this movie. I opt to spend 800 pesos on penshoppe shirts and jeans than in the original DVD copy of that movie. So much for that crappy talk!
The role of Benjamin Barker a.k.a. Sweeney Todd was played by the talented and bubbly American Actor, Johnny Depp. He seeks revenge when Judge Turpin, played by Severus Snape a.k.a. Allan Rickman, pilfered the poor barber’s wife and only daughter. After 15 years, he went back to London and changed his identity. With the help of Mrs. Lovett, played by Helena Bonham Carter, the owner of the worst meat pies in London planned on different styles and platforms of sinister acts.
The movie was great and generally it was not boring since most of the lines were delivered through singing. I thought Johnny Depp’s voice was dreadful. But I ain’t right about my prejudices. The entire cast had wonderful voices.
The story was pretty amazing since it only concentrated on to the main character itself and also the backdrop, make-up and the lights match the movie’s mood – dark, sinister and bloody. I was a bit surprised on the movie’s ending. It was like a swift end for the main character. This is one of the best horror movies that I’ve watched. 475842574285425 thumbs up!!!
Instead of studying Chem 17 for my fourth long exam this coming Saturday, I opted to watch this horror movie. Since 2006, I really want to watch this since I had read different positive reviews from various Hollywood critics. The music, screenplay and cinematography was great, ABSOLUTELY GREAT. It's not your typical horror movie and it was a creative movie. It would be astonishing that a person would be possessed by six powerful demons of hell. And oh, I'm usually awake during the "devil's hour". It's not freaky. But whenever I smell something peculiar, that is, a burning scent, that would totally FREAK ME if that occurs (God knows).
And yeah, the character of Emily Rose is based on the true story of Anneliese Michel, a young German Catholic woman who died in 1976 after unsuccessful attempts to cure her from the alleged state of demonic possession with the means of psychotropic drugs. The court accepted the version according to which she was epileptic, refusing to accept the idea of supernatural involvement in this case. Two priests involved in the exorcism on her, as well as her parents, were found guilty of manslaughter resulting from negligence and received sentences, generating controversy. The girl's grave is still a place of pilgrimage for many Christians.
This year, a sweater won't do. Where will you be? 10,000 years ago, one storm changed the face of our planet. On May 28, It will happen again. Nature has spoken.
Ahhh. I watched this movie for six times in a row since it's premier night (on pirated dvd's nga lang, hehehe). Although there are some minor glitches on the movie, still I give this movie a rate of 5 stars. You could really feel that nature is indeed powerful and no dominating force shall outwit Mother Nature. The cataclysmic climactic shift may occur within a thousand years, a hundred years, a decade or TOMORROW.
Instead of studying Biodiversity, Trigonometry and Chemistry I chose to watch this movie, STARDUST. The story started in a countryside town bordering on a magical land. A young man makes a promise to his beloved that he'll retrieve a fallen star by venturing into the magical realm. Definitely, a MUST SEE MOVIE. Two to the power of 10 million thumbs UP!
I'm holding on your rope, Got me ten feet off the ground And I'm hearing what you say but I just can't make a sound You tell me that you need me Then you go and cut me down, but wait You tell me that you're sorry Didn't think I'd turn around, and say...
That it's too late to apologize, it's too late I said it's too late to apologize, it's too late
I'd take another chance, take a fall Take a shot for you And I need you like a heart needs a beat But it's nothing new
I loved you with the fire red- Now it's turning blue, and you say... "Sorry" like the angel heaven let me think was you But I'm afraid...
It's too late to apologize, it's too late I said it's too late to apologize, it's too late
When Michael Myers was young, he used to destroy his own toys with glory. Next, he killed his pet rat using a swiss knife. The next thing you'll know, he's a psycho and killed his own family, except his mother and his baby sister.
after 15 years, he broke out in his cell and wreaked unimaginable havoc in a village in Illinois on the eve of halloween.
A very disturbing and gruesome movie. I don't really like it. the story isn't that great or whatnot.
I don't know why I loved this song, though ang thought ng song is pambabae, but I love the melody and its lyrics. Nice.
Whenever I hear this song, maremember ko ang childhood days ko, spending my entire day sa bahay ng lola ko.
Most probably doon ko siya maremember because my tita used to LOVE this song when she was still studying in college. Haaay. Memories.

I thought I saw a man brought to life he was warm he came around like he was dignified he showed me what it was to cry Well you couldn't be that man I adored you don't seem to know - or seem to care what your heart s for I don't know him anymore there's nothing where he used to lie my conversation has run dry that's what's goin' on nothing's fine I'm torn I'm all out of faith, this is how I feel I'm cold and I am shamed lying naked on the floor illusion never changed into something real I'm wide awake and I can see the perfect sky is torn you're a little late I'm already torn
so I guess the fortune teller's right I should have seen just what was there and not some holy light but you `crawled beneath my veins and now I don't care, I have no luck I don't miss it all that much there's just so many things that I can't touch I'm torn there's nothing where he used to lie my inspiration has run dry that's what's goin' on nothing's right I'm torn... [chorus]
I've watched the 4 seasons of this medical drama series. Gregory House, MD is not your ordinary doctor. He may be grumpy, insulting, humiliates you in front of the people but HE is the best doctor and his medical prowess and expertise contributes greatly into his working station - Princeton Hospital.
Hugh Laurie (Gregory House) is indeed a great actor. Though, in the latest season, I've only watched 3 episodes since the latest season isn't finished showing yet in America. Haay. Can't wait to see the full season 4 of it.
The almighty Crichton had made another breathtaking and heart-stopping novel - Timeline! Now, if you're an avid fan of modern physics (Quantum Physics to be precise) and history (like me!), then this novel suits you. Though, the only drawback on Michael Crichton's novel was, it contains a few grammatical errors which made the sentence senseless.
Enthralled with the adventures of Harry Potter in his school, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, join him together with his friends, Hermione and Ron as they venture into different forms of magic, mystery and love. The latest installment, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, tells us that life is just short, especially when Dumbledore died in this installment. Somehow, the last installment, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is somehow would be the most thrilling book, perhaps because this would be the last book by JK Rowling.
In general, Harry Potter series is really a great book. Two-thumbs up and I highly recommend this book. Feels like you're floating in the Quidditch Match or killed by 'Avada Kedavra' Spell!
Even though this song was released about 3 months ago, I really love this song. Really, Christian is a versatile singer, wherein he could range from classical to pop rock. I really love this song, totally.
Definitely, everyone should try this oh-so beautiful and well-crafted American series. Meet Meredith Grey, first year surgical intern of Seattle Grace and the daughter of the renowned best surgeon in Seattle. Join her together with his fellow interns, George O'Malley, Cristina Yang, Alex Karev and Izzie Stevens as they venture in a crucial situation of life and death. Aside from there usual experience at the OR, watch them as there personal lives touched there realization to there dream as a doctor.
This real-life drama deals with everyone's personal life applied to there tedious work. I really love this series because I dreamed to be a successful Neurosurgeon.
