The fact that I must read my readings in Microbiology (in which I already mastered the Algae part, well, thanks to Intermediate Botany), LSS, once again, ruined my life. A lot of people really love LSS, but for me? It's the shittiest thing in the world. I'm not the type of person who gets an LSS in one song only, at least ten songs haunt me everyday. I don't know. Once I sing my favorite song, other songs will just pop on to my subconscious mind and eventually, my brain will transform into an enormous imeem playlist, playing at least millions of songs simultaneously. That's why, I really hate LSS. Really. Damn it. Sorry if this post's nonsense, but I just want to release those unwanted stress in my body.

I have once deemed that my life is but a dreary one. Back then, I usually rant about things that aren’t going on to my way. Scared and nervous of that date? Well, you shouldn't, future freshmeat! 'Coz I, Sir Marione of Kingdom Lancellote will teach you some tips and tricks on taking the most difficult college entrance exam of the Philippines, the UPCAT.
UPCAT is composed of four areas (English, Math, Science, and Reading Comprehension). Here are some basic facts about UPCAT:
You can only take this exam ONCE.
The exam follows the "right-minus-wrong" rule. Meaning, if you commit a mistake, you'll not be only deducted by that, you'll also be deducted by 1/4 or 0.25 point if you commit a mistake.
Almost 80,000 aspirants will take this exam, but only 10,000 - 15,000 will pass. Most of them didn't meet on to the quota of their course.
Let's start on choosing the course (though it's too late..)
Choose a course that's appropriate with your interest/s.
If you're confident about your skills and intelligence, then choose a Quota course (Biology, Engineering, MBB, etc)
If you're uncertain that you'll pass this entrance exam but you really want to pursue your studies in UP, choose a non quota course like Clothing Technology, Geology, Geography in Diliman. (Correct me if I'm wrong). Then if you've passed this non quota course, take this in one semester and shift to your own choice of course. It's easier when you've passed UPCAT. On shifting to other UP college, one must wait at least one year and earn at least 30 academic units. Shifting may take time and money but the experience is truly astounding and worthwhile. :)
Alright muchos and sissies, here are the tips and tricks when taking this most hyped entrance exam of every high school senior:
One. Taking an UPCAT review in a review center is not that effective. Three years in high school is too much, otherwise if you're fond of daydreaming about your crush during your Geometry and Calculus class, or drawing your Chemistry teacher's rugged face or just sleep whenever you hear those terms related to Trigonometry. But if you want to, then it's your choice.
Two.Arrive on your test centers ON TIME. I know you don't want your fellow takers to see you crying and begging on one of the exam proctors. That's pathetic.
Three.Take your time on answering the exam. If you find this certain item difficult, skip to an easier item. If you find all items difficult.. OH DEAR, what a total disaster. You'll just regret that you slept on Mr. Krung-krung's Calculus class, or Madame Bungjung's Literature class. Make sure that you're certain with your answer. Otherwise, you want to take the risk of answering all test qustions, like what I did, forgetting the right-minus-wrong rule. Oops. Fortuntately, I passed. HAHAHA :)))
Four. Pray. Yes, this is really effective. DO NOT ASK God for answers or some divine interventions, rather, just ask God for guidance.
Five. Sleep early. Cramming will not help and a one-day review will just contribute to bleeding of nasal cavity or worse, brain damage.
Six. Do not bring Mcdo, Jollibee, Yellowcab or any heavy meals inside the room (though meals aren't prohibited). This would lead to major distractions, and this doesn't occur on to you, you'll affect the entire class since they just smelled the luscious aroma of your BigMac. Candies are enough.
Seven.Do not panic. This is one of the reasons why students flunk in UPCAT.
Eight. Do not answer your previous exam, like if you're taking the Science part and wish to return to the English part (say, English is the previous part of the exam) to answer some questions, then this would lead to disqualification of taking the exam. Remember, honesty is the best policy.
Nine. Release those unwanted shits on from your body system before taking exam. I know you don't want to have a crappy result just because you just think of releasing your crap during the exam.
After taking the exam, unwind yourself. Relax. You still have five to six months before the UP will release the final results of the exam. You'll experience the Euphoric feeling whenever you'll see your name on the UPCAT Online Result website. You're just one step closer to fame if you passed this exam, really.
So future freshmeats, I hope these tips from yours truly will be a great help to you.
One more thing, it's not the end of the world if you flunk this exam. There are many UPCAT flunkers who have been successful through time. But the fact that passing the UPCAT is a great advantage.
Hey there! It's been a loooong day for me. Hahaha. First, the Microbiology thing. We didn't expect na magququiz kami sa MCB despite the undecipherable handouts ng previous lecture. Crap. HAHAHA. Hay naku buti nabasa ko ang lecture the day before (or hours before class? HAHAH TAE!). Ooooohhh. I can't imagine if color blind ako na tao. Hala?! Good luck nalang sa akin. Si Ma'am Marie WOWOWEEEE talaga. :))))))))
Anyhow, for those who have booked their theme request, well, I regret to tell you that I can only manage to encode and design your theme, uhhmm, maybe next NEXT week. Hahaha. You know, exams na namin ehh.
July 12 (Saturday) - Natural Science 2. Naah. All about Geology, Earth Science blahblahblah.. You name it. Still, pag-aralan ko pa rin to. Mahirap nang magcram.
July 14 (Monday) - Have to encode the Physics 3 4th Experiment.
July 15 (Tuesday) - Botany 3 Lecture in the morning, Physics 3 Laboratory in the afternoon. At least I have three hours of BREAAAAAAAK. Yihaaah.
So that's it, pansit. I'm gonna have a week-long hiatus. HAHAHA. Sure na talaga ako. Promise. LOL.
And yes, I have formulated a solution on to this simple problem. And no, it's not calculus nor algebra based solution, it's as simple as 1-2-3 or a-b-c.

Dealing with difficult people can make your life and your job miserable. Beyond a point, you cannot control difficult people. You can only control how you react to them. If these difficult people consistently anger or intimidate you, or simply rattle your cage, they ultimately control you. In dealing with difficult people, it begs us to ask the question, "Might I be a difficult person?!" We can all possess difficult people traits, but what about those individuals who are this way all the time?
3 Tips to Remember When Dealing with Difficult People
1) First learn and understand their behavior patterns. When are these people most difficult? What types of behavior makes them difficult people? Are they difficult only with you or with others as well?
2) Don’t argue with overly aggressive or excessively difficult people. These individuals often have a desire for dissension and thrive on chaos. By arguing and wanting to "win" it only adds fuel to the fire.
3) Don’t take their behavior personally. Often, they are impossible to be around because of something going on with them.
5 Common Types of Difficult People
Complainer/Whiner/Negativist:Research shows these difficult people often have an excessive need to be liked and want sympathy. By complaining and being negative, they think they’ll gain attention. These difficult people gain attention but not in a positive way. It pays to be tactfully direct with the negativist. For example, saying to them, "I understand this is something you want to talk about, and at the same time I want to make sure I get back to performing my work." Dealing with difficult people this way will usually cause them to move on to someone else; a more "captive audience" who they think will listen to their excessive whining.
Another key phrase is to say, "Pat, I want to bring something to your attention, and you may not even be aware of it. When you come in to work first thing in the morning complaining to the other staff about our new policy, it’s beginning to look like a lot of negativity. I just wanted to mention it because you may not be aware of how you’re coming across." If you think they’re already aware of it, explain it to them anyway. Dealing with difficult people requires diplomacy and tact.
Know-it-All: Listen and know what drives them. When dealing with a know-it-all like this, ask yourself if they seem to have an excessive need for control. Or, do they seem insecure, but want to appear to have all the facts on just about everything? Maybe these difficult people are threatened by you. First, let the know-it-all vent within reason. Often, once they’ve let out all their "hot air," then they’ll be more likely to listen to you. If not, and they start talking over you, it may be necessary to say, "So and so, I really have listened to everything you have to say about such-and-such, and if you’d give me just a moment, I can help you as far as….." Be direct, yet polite and tactful.
Exploder: When dealing with difficult people such as the exploder proceed with caution. Wait until they’re finished "erupting" and have "cooled their jets." You may be better off not saying much at all. Approach them again when they are in a good mood. If they are never in a good mood, approach them when they are in a better mood.
Sniper:Dealing with difficult people who stealthily throw little digs your way are tricky contenders. After they toss innuendos in a sometimes sarcastic tone and you show that you’re hurt, they accuse you of having "no sense of humor."
In this case, consider ignoring them altogether. In the future they’ll be less likely to throw in little digs because they won’t get the reaction they’re looking for from you. As Zig Ziglar once said, "No one can get your goat if they don’t know where it’s tied up."
Gossip:These difficult people either are bored, don’t have enough to occupy their time, or simply like to make others look bad and themselves look good. Gossips don’t realize that when they’re gossiping about everyone else, that people are silently wondering, "I wonder what she/he says about me when I’m not around?!" Sometimes gossips "gossip" as a distraction and to procrastinate important tasks.
Often what they’re gossiping about doesn’t even affect them. Next time this happens, listen intently, then politely say, "And how does this affect you?" They’ll get the point. Be very careful, however, with your tone of voice. You do not want to come across at all as sarcastic. Besides, the latin root of "sarcasm" is "sarco" meaning tearing of the flesh!
Difficult People = Different People. It’s been said that difficult people are often "different" people. Often a person appears difficult because they are so different from us. Dealing with difficult people isn’t easy. It takes practice to learn how to deal with them effectively.
If you are forced to interact with certain difficult people at times consider the following: keep the conversation light. Talk about "news, weather, and sports" and nothing else. Don’t let them press those buttons
